Joshua Tree National Park
HDMC is one of 50 hospitals nation wide to partner with the National Park Service for their 2015 centennial celebration. The intent of the partnership is to raise community awareness regarding health benefits associated with accessing our national parks. HDMC has partnered with the Joshua Tree National Park to launch the "Take A Hike" program where HDMC physicians prescribe use of the park for exercise and its related benefits while enjoying the beauty of the park. Out of the partnership has also come quarterly "Ranger/Doctor Hikes" that were developed for community benefit; these events are guided hikes led by a park ranger and emergency medicine physician, Todd Sallenbach, M.D. The hike is free and promoted within the community.

Morongo Unified School District
HDMC has partnered with Morongo Unified School District (MUSD) over the years for many community-based programs. These have included:
  • Summer food program at HDMC Family Health Clinics to provide free lunch to children 0-18
  • Every 15-Minutes Program which is a state funded program in the high schools to reduce drunk driving. Once a year HDMC hosts a high school team to work with the emergency doctors and staff to video appropriate footage to use in the local Every 15-Minutes campaign.
  • Covered California Insurance Exchange: HDMC partnered with MUSD to provide information to students' families regarding the opportunity to secure health insurance through the Covered California program.
