Community Support Groups that meet in our community
The following groups meet in the Morongo Basin, many in the Helen Gray Education Center located on the Hi-Desert Medical Center campus.  These groups are hosted for the benefit of the community.

Alzheimer’s Support Group
Attend this support group on the second and fourth Friday of the month at 11:00 a.m. at the offices of HOSPICE OF MORONGO BASIN, located at 61675 Twentynine Palms Hwy, Joshua Tree, 760/366-1308. The support group is sponsored by Hi-Desert Medical Center and is supported by employees of the healthcare District.  This group is designed for those who have friends and family members diagnosed with Alzheimer’s. For additional information, contact Gloria Beetle at 760-366-6424.  
   
Better Breathers Support Group
Attend this support group on the first Tuesday of each month at 11:00 a.m. in the Helen Gray Education Center. The group is designed for those with pulmonary issues.  Reserved parking is provided for this meeting.
   
Breastfeeding & Lactation Support
Special Additions services extend beyond the birth of your baby.  Our certified lactation consultant provides breastfeeding support to help you achieve the best possible beginning in caring for your baby.  Please call us at 760-366-6370 for one-on-one support for breastfeeding.  Please call us so we can help you be successful in the health of your child.

The Compassionate Friends
The Compassionate Friends is a support group for parents who have experienced the death of a child.  The group meets monthly on the second Wednesday of each month at 4:30 p.m. in the Helen Gray Education Center.

Diabetic Support   
Hi-Desert Medical Center provides a Diabetes Education Program, a one-time education opportunity designed for the newly diagnosed diabetes patient or those who could benefit from review of basic disease management.

Look Good. . . Feel Better - American Cancer Society
Look Good... Feel Better is a free, non-medical, brand-neutral, national public service program created to help individuals with cancer look good, improve their self-esteem and manage their treatment and recovery with greater confidence.  For more information about this resource and when they are scheduled in the Helen Gray Education Center, call the American Cancer Society at 800-227-2345 or visit their website.

Multiple Sclerosis Support
The National Multiple Sclerosis Society, Palm Desert Chapter, is hosting cognifitness classes in the Helen Gray Education Center for individuals diagnosed with multiple sclerosis.  This is an eight week program designed to improve focus, concentration, memory, organization, problem solving and critical thinking skills.  A $25 fee will be charged for participation; please ask about the sliding fee scale.  For more information or to sign up for this opportunity, call the National Multiple Sclerosis Society in Palm Desert at 760/766-5740.  The program begins May, 2012.
