Hi-Desert Medical Center Featured Physician

General surgeon, Jai Ghatnekar, M.D., has joined the medical staff of Hi-Desert Medical Center, coming from Fort Wayne, Indiana, where he was in solo practice and on staff at Lutheran Hospital and St. Joseph's Hospital.

Dr. Ghatnekar completed his residency in general surgery at St. Francis Medical Center in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, and a surgery internship at Harlan Appalachian Regional Hospital in Harlan, Kentuckey.  He received his Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery degrees from Topiwala National Medical College, University of Mumbai, in Mumbai, India.  Dr. Ghatnekar is board certified by the American Board of Surgery and holds medical licenses in both Indiana and California.

"I am pleased to be joining the Hi-Desert Medical Center family," said Dr. Ghatnekar.  "I look forward to building a busy practice serving the residents of the Hi-Desert communities full-time."  He adds that his practice philosophy is quality and compassionate care delivered in a timely fashion.  He resides in Yucca Valley and his wife, Revati, who will be joining him later this year.  He has three grown children.

Dr. Ghatnekar is an avid traveler, having visited countries in North America, Europe and Asia.  He holds a first-degree black belt in the Korean Martial Art of Tang Soo Do.  He has been active with C.S. Kim Karate of Fort Wayne, Indiana for the past seven years.  He has also served as treasurer of Sangam, an Indian cultural organization for Fort Wayne and surrounding areas.  He enjoys thrill seeking activities such as hang gliding, parasailing, jet skiing, snorkeling, ice skating and showboarding.
