A Dickens of a Tea!
Sunday, December 5, 2 p.m.
Hosted in the Helen Gray Education Center
There is no "Bah! Humbug!" here!  Each holiday season the Foundation hosts, A Dickens of a Tea, in a Victorian style.  Delicious holiday teas and sumptuous gourmet delicacies are served in a setting that warms your heart and inspires even the Scroogiest among us to get into the holiday spirit.  Each year a play is written by our own award winning playwright, Wendy Cohen, to entertain and inspire us to "keep Christmas always."  Father Christmas visits the children and provides them each a gift in honor of the season.  Holiday stories are told by our special reader, Debbie Medina from the Yucca Valley branch library.  Carols are sung and good-will spread.  Do a little holiday shopping at Tiny Tim's Silent Auction.  This is a party that Fezziwig would be proud to throw!  tickets are $20 for adults, $5 for children ages 6-12, and children under 6 are free.  Sponsorship opportunities are available.  Contact the HDMC Foundation office at 760-366-6321 for more information or to purchase your tickets.

It's A Wonderful New Life
Sunday, December 5
Those familiar with the Frank Capra holiday classic "It's a Wonderful Life" recall the touching end when ZuZu, George Bailey's daughter, tells the family that "every time a bell rings an angel gets his wings."  Now, through the HDMC Foundation's "It's a Wonderful New Life" campaign, Morongo Basin angels have a chance to earn their wings by impacting the lives of babies born at the Special Additions Family Birthing Center.  Each year the Special Additions Birthing Center welcomes nearly 600 babies to our Morongo Basin communities.  For many parents, leaving the birthing center with a car seat - required by state law - is an expense that is out of reach.  Now you can protect our precious futures by providing those car seats to our littlest angels.  This program demonstrates how your small gift can truly make a big difference.  All angel donors will "receive their wings" as a special thank you to be mailed directly to them.  Campaign partners include the California Highway Patrol, Hi-Desert Publishing and Z107.7 FM radio.  The lighting of the Leota Bell Tree of Angels, named in honor of local philanthropist Leota Bell, will take place in the Helen Gray Education Center.  Donor levels are: Archangel at $100 or more; Angel at $50, or Cherub at $20.  Contact the HDMC Foundation office at 760-366-6321 to make a donation.
