Two seats on the governing Board of Directors for Hi-Desert Memorial Health Care District are open to election on November 2. Currently seated are Catja Arnzen and Leslie Moody whose terms are fulfilled at the close of 2010. The election process to fill the seats is prescribed by the State of California. An application and handbook to register candidacy may be picked up from the Clerk of the Board in the HDMC Administrative Office located in the hospital building at 6601 White Feather Road, Joshua Tree, California. Office hours are Monday through Friday, 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Questions about the open seats may be directed to 760-366-6260.
Potential candidates must file nomination papers with the Registrar of Voters by August 6, 2010, 5 p.m., located at 777 E. Rialto Ave, San Bernardino. Additionally, two off-site filing events are available at the following locations, dates and times:

Following is the calendar of dates for those interested in participating in the election process.
July 12
Nomination Period Begins: Candidates may pick up nomination documents at the Registrar of Voters office. Special district candidates may pick up documents at the district office.
July 27
Last day for any candidate to request, in writing, a different ballot designation for this election.
August 2
The first semi-annual campaign disclosure statement is due for the period of January 1 through June 30.
July 12 - August 6
Candidates must file a Form 700 - Statement of Economic Interest with the Registrar of Voters office prior to the close of the nomination period.
August 6, 5 p.m.
Nomination Period closes: close of candidate filing period.
August 7
Extended nomination period begins. If an incumbant fails to file nomination documents by 5:00 p.m. August 6 for persons other than the incumbent. Not applicable if office has no incumbent.
August 7 - August 16
Public viewing period of candidate statements. Ten day period for examination of candidate statements prior to submittal for printing. During this period, any voter of the jurisdiction in which the election is being held may seek a writ of mandate or an injunction requiring any, or all, of the material to be included in the ballot pamphlet to be amended or deleted. Exception: if there is an extension of the nomination period, the examination peiod will be from August 12 through August 23.

The Secretary of State and Registrar of Voters shall conduct random alphabet drawings.
September 6 - October 19
Period for write-in candidates to file their statements of write-in candidacy and nomination papers.
