February 9, 2011
The Hi-Desert Medical Center Board of Directors, at their regular February meeting, presented a proclamation of appreciation and a plaque of recognition of the Hi-Desert Medical Center Foundation, offered by CEO Lionel "Chad" Chadwick, PhD., and Board President Paul Hoffman.  Dr. Chadwick highlighted some of the foundation's impressive accomplishments, including:
  • Working with the Department of Defense to provide $2.5 milliion in Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI) equipment
  • Donating $250,000 towards the purchase of new beds for patient rooms in the hospital
  • Awarding $150,000 in nursing scholarship funds (which resulted in $1.5 million savings in Registry costs to the District)
  • Awarding $16,000 for an E.E.G. machine for neurological diagnostics
  • Providing $4,000 for a report dictation system for pathology and clinical labs
  • Granting the Special Additions prenatal program $6,000 per year for the purchase of car seats for new families

"As the end of an era draws near, we pause to remember the accomplishments of these hard working men and women who gave of their time and talents over the past 46 years," said Dr. Chadwick during the presentation.  "Yours is an important chapter in our District's rich history . . . we thank you all."

The foundation is disbanding and a new District foundation will be formed in the coming months.  In addition to assuming the responsibilities of the previous foundation, the new foundation will expand philanthropic endeavors, including planned giving, grant writing and overseeing a future capital campaign for the District.
