Hi-Desert Medical Center Family Health Clinics to Hold Back-to-School TDAP Clinics

Due to higher than normal number of reported Whooping Cough cases recently in California, new legislation requires that all students entering grades 7 though 12 during the 2011-2012 school year show proof of a whooping cough booster shot or Tdap. Whooping cough - known medicall as pertussis - is a very contagious disease caused by a bacteria. It can cause serious illness in infants, children and adults. Infants are most at risk because they are too young to be fully vaccinated.

The Hi-Desert Medical Center Family Health Clinics will offer two Tdap clinics:
- Saturday, August 6, from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the Yucca Valley Family Health Clinic; 58375 Twentynine Palms highway;
- Saturday, August 13, from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the Twentynine Palms Clinic, 72724 Twentynine Palms highway.
Cost is just $10 (cash only please); children must be accompanied by a parent or legal guardian. Supplies are limited so get there early! For more information, call 760/365-9305.
