Diabetes education partnership recognized
June 16, 2011

During the June meeting of the Hi-Desert Medical Center Board of Directors, Bobbie Anderson, RN, CDE, of Desert Regional Medical Center, received the "President's Award," the highest honor the Board of Directors bestows.  She received the recognition for her leadership and partnership in bringing Desert Regional Medical Center's diabetes education program to Hi-Desert Medical Center.

Now in its second year, this unique partnership between Hi-Desert Medical Center and Desert Regional Medical Center is providing monthly, intensive diabetes education in the Morongo Basin.  Designed for newly-diagnosed diabetes patients or those who could benefit from a review of basic disease management, this program, recognized by the American Diabetes Association, helps patients control diabetes and assists in decreasing its long-term complications.  Anderson is a certified diabetes instructor.  Since the partnership began in May 2009, she has seen more than 275 patients at Hi-Desert Medical Center.
