A new pulmonary rehabilitation program is now open at Hi-Desert Medical Center. Located in the hospital, the primary goal of the program is to restore patients with chronic lung disease to the highest level of independent function. Patients learn proper breathing techniques, effective use of medication, pulmonary relaxation and controlling symptoms. Studies show that those with chronic lung disease who complete a pulmonary rehabilitation program experience a decrease in pulmonary symptoms, hospital and emergency room visits and lead a more active lifestyle.
