Hi-Desert Medical Center chief operating and chief nursing officer named to national fellowship

Judy Austin, MSN, MBA, FACHE, chief operating officer and chief nursing officer at Hi-Desert Medical Center, was selected by the National Rural Health Association to participate in the 2013 Rural Health Fellows Program.  The program focuses on developing leaders who can articulate the unique struggles and realities of rural healthcare delivery.  Only 13 health professionals from around the nation were accepted for this fellowship after an extensive and very competitive selection process.

The National Rural Health Association's Rural Health Fellowship involves undergoing an intensive yearlong skill building program.  This includes three advanced leadership training seminars, educational confences, monthly conference calls on rural health leadership, policy formation, strategic planning, and a group project of rural health policy analysis on a national level.

"I am pleased and privileged to be named a fellow in this distinguished program," said Austin.  "Among other things, this fellowship will provide valuable networking and resource sharing at the federal level that I anticipate will benefit the Morongo Basin."
