Hi-Desert Medical Center today announced the appointment of a new Chief Financial Officer (CFO). Robert Tyk brings 35 years of healthcare CFO experience to his new post. He comes to the Hi-Desert from Roswell, NM, where he was chief financial officer for Roswell Regional Hospital. Previously, he provided interim financial management and turnaround expertise through Kaizen Consulting, where he was an owner/principal. Tyk replaces Tom Duda, who is retiring in February after eight years with the healthcare District and 40 years in the healthcare industry.
"I am very pleased that we have been able to recruit someone of Bob's exceptional caliber. His background will be crucial as we work to uncover opportunities to enhance reimbursements and stem the expenses that contribute to our negative bottom line," said Lionel "Chad" Chadwick, PhD., CEO. "We are grateful for the leadership provided by Tom Duda these past eight years, and on behalf of the board of directors and staff of the District, we wish him an enjoyable and well-earned retirement."
Of his new post, Mr. Tyk observed: "My wife and I are eager to put down roots in the Morongo Basin. We both love the Hi-Desert and look forward to working collaboratively with District leadership and staff to uncover opportunities for improving the financial bottom line with an eye on ensuring the future of our healthcare District."
