No One Dies Alone Volunteer Program
"No one should die alone . . . each human should die with the sight of a loving face." -- Mother Teresa
The "No One Dies Alone" program provides companionship to those patients in the dying process who are truly alone without family or friends. End-of-life Compassionate Companions may provide quiet reading, perhaps hold a hand, or play background music. Being there is the most important thing. The goal is death with dignity.
The volunteer chooses the time, date and number of hours available to serve as a Compassionate Companion. Training is required to participate in this program and is scheduled monthly through the chapliancy program of Hi-Desert Medical Center. Training classes are the third Thursday of the month at 3 p.m. in the Helen Gray Education Center.
