Hi-Desert Memorial Health Care District distinguishes itself as the leader for healthcare services of the Morongo Basin. A modern, nonprofit 59-bed acute primary care hospital is located on the principal campus of the Hi-Desert Medical Center. Services include a wide range of quality inpatient and outpatient diagnostic, treatment and rehabilitation services, home health and hospice services, and a variety of community outreach services.

Hi-Desert Medical Center is the primary provider of health services in the Morongo Basin, serving a population of more than 68,000. Patients benefit from caring qualified staff and advanced technology all in a convenient setting located in Joshua Tree, California.

Hi-Desert Medical Center has more than 100 physicians in 28 medical specialties and 519 employees. Licensed by the State of California and fully accredited by the Joint Commission on Accreditation of Health Care Organizations and the California Medical Association, the hospital holds membership in the California Healthcare Association and the Hospital Council of Southern California.

Hi-Desert Medical Center celebrates over 30 years of bringing quality health care to the residents of the Morongo Basin. The hospital was born of a consolidation of two previously existing hospital districts: The Hi-Desert Memorial Hospital in Yucca Valley and the Twentynine Palms Hospital District merged to create the present organization.

The medical center campus also includes the Continuing Care Center, a 120-bed skilled nursing facility providing 95 skilled nursing resident beds and 25 sub-acute beds. The facility sits on a hillside and offers a beautiful view of the surrounding desert in a clean air environment.  The Continuing Care Center offers a full compliment of services:

  • 24-hour nursing services
  • Rehabilittion therapy
  • Respite care for hospice patients
  • Short-stay respite care for family members
  • Daily recreational and social activities
  • On-site licensed cosmetologist
  • Pet therapy, including an aviary and salt water fish tank
  • Personalized nutritional mean plans with extensive rotating menus

Hi-Desert Home Health and Hospice departments extend the medical center’s services into the communities we serve. Hi-Desert Home Health Services, ranked above national and state averages in overall quality,* is available to continue your care at home. Other Services

The emergency department provides patients with the care they need with timeliness and privacy, serving the public 24-hours-a-day, seven days a week.

Airway Outpatient Surgery provides outpatient surgery, diagnostic imaging, mammography, laboratory and bone densitometry services.

The Behavioral Health Centre is an intensive outpatient mental health program.

The Special Additions Prenatal Education Center provides prenatal education service to new parents, and breastfeeding support.

  • The Special Additions Family Birthing Center builds on the hospital’s reputation for providing quality health care services. The center provides complete health care services for women of all ages, with special emphasis on enhancing the birthing experience in a comfortable, supportive and educational setting.
  • State-of-the art fixed-site Magnetic Resonance Imaging System is improving diagnostic capability for our patients.
  • Hi-Desert Family Health Clinics of Yucca Valley and Twentynine Palms provide health care services for patients receiving Medi-Cal benefits, providing access to medical specialists.

Helen Gray Education Center
The hospital’s Helen Gray Education Center offers meeting and event space rental for up to 200 people. In addition to hosting seminars and programs, the hospital’s professional catering staff is prepared to serve business meetings, lectures and other special events.
