Hi-Desert
Medical Center (HDMC) Foundation Board has expanded
the scope of the current Martie Avels Nursing
Scholarship beyond funding for nursing, to include
radiology technicians and diagnostic sonography
students. The scholarship pays the expenses of
qualified students who are accepted into programs
at Copper Mountain College, funding will be relevant to the fiscal
requirements of each specific degree, and will
be determined by the advice and needs of Hi-Desert
Medical Center.
The scholarship was named in
honor of Twentynine Palms resident Martie Avels,
who retired after more than 20 years of nursing
