Spiritual Support

Religious Support in Hospital for You and Your Family

At Hi-Desert Medical Center, we understand that physical health plays only one part in your overall wellness. Our spiritual support services are available to you and your family as you cope with changes in your health and in your life.

Meet Grover Fletcher, Our Chaplain

"As a chaplain at HDMC, I see staff in action,” explains Chaplain Grover Fletcher. “These caregivers are loaded with goodness and the desire to serve others. They are very quiet about it, yet very intentional in their service to humanity."

Fletcher oversees the health care district’s spiritual care program. The program has 20 chaplains who volunteer to work with patients in several areas throughout the district. The spiritual care program provides a broad range of services: requests for bedside visits in the hospital, the No One Dies Alone program, spiritual care to patients facing end-of-life transition and hosting weekly Bible studies and Sunday services at the Continuing Care Center.

The chaplains host prayer services in the hospital building with specific days designated for different faiths — anyone needing prayer support is invited to attend. The hospital chapel, located at the end of the main hallway, is open 24 hours a day, seven days a week, to anyone needing a quiet place to reflect.

If you wish, our chaplain can also arrange for a visit from a minister, priest, rabbi or spiritual counselor of your choice. Just ask your nurse to contact our chaplain, or call the hospital operator at (760) 366-3711.
