Accreditation granted to Sleep Disorders Center at Carondelet

May 21, 2018
TUCSON (May 21, 2018) – Carondelet Health Network Sleep Center at St. Mary’s Hospital has received three-year accreditation from the Accreditation Commission for Health Care (ACHC).

The Sleep Center at Carondelet St. Mary’s Hospital offers education, evaluation, diagnosis and specialized medical technology to treat sleep disorders. Its physicians sleep technologists and highly trained staff are dedicated to discovering the cause of patients’ sleep problems and alleviating symptoms.

Some of the warning signs of sleep disorders include:

• Excessive daytime sleepiness
• Snoring, choking, gasping or pauses in breathing while sleeping
• Recurrent awakening
• Non-refreshing sleep
• Daytime fatigue
• Trouble concentrating

“We understand how frustrating it can be not getting a good night’s sleep, and we want to help you rest easier,” said Sue Gold, senior director, Perioperative Services.

“Accreditation is a process of review that allows healthcare organizations to demonstrate the ability to meet regulatory requirements and standards established by a recognized accreditation body,” explained Gold. “On-site surveys follow a comprehensive review process that looks at organizational structure, policies and procedures, and compliance with state and federal laws.”

Accreditation is regarded as one of the key benchmarks for measuring the quality of an organization. Preparing for accreditation gives your organization an opportunity to identify its strengths and areas for improvement, according to the ACHC. It reflects organization’s commitment to remaining compliant with industry standards and best practices, containing costs, and practicing performance improvement.

“In granting this accreditation, ACHC finds that your company has demonstrated that it operates at a level of quality, integrity and effectiveness consistent with its standards. It is an achievement of which your organization can be proud and one that marks your commitment to quality in the provision of care,” said ACHC Program Director Timothy Safley.
